Red River

The Red River frees the pain

Watch through blurry eyes

But don’t cut the vein.

Drips of sadness trickle down her arm.

A reminder that she feels.

Pouring straight from her heart

A place that refuses to heal.

Standing on deaths ledge

She yearns for its freedom

A quite whisper in her head

A prisoner left defeated.

Proof she is alive

Body and soul.

She breathes in courage.

In hopes to one-day be whole.
