This was a poem I wrote to my abuser. I was sexually abused as a child by someone who was supposed to be my protector but ended up being my nightmare.

Time has healed my wounds

But my scars remain

You took something from me

And I’ll never be the same

When I look in the mirror

I see everything wrong

Yet, you never broke me

Just made me that much more strong

I may not like myself sometimes

But for others I have much love

I’ve learned to never put down others

But to always lift them up

In my eyes you’re a coward

And you’ll learn in time

I could never truly hate you

But without you, I’ll be fine

The lessons you taught me

Are true lessons of life

Some may hurt you

But always shine bright

I’ve learned to face my fears

And care all that much more

To survive in this life

You have to open your own doors
