For so long, these eyes

Were so full of tears.

My vision was blurred

By the tiresome years.

I couldn’t see beauty through

The watery sight;

I’d lost every place of darling delight.

But then in the deepest hush of my soul

Something came forth

To make me come whole.

Out of the dark sprang something profound,

A whisper of a motion

Moving to a sound.

Just where the sound came from

I cannot say.

I only know now the sky’s

A little less grey.

And chasing that sound

I found a heart and two arms

Just waiting to find me

And keep me from harm.
