Alex and Pat both loved movies. However, Alex’s favorite movies all starred Nicholas Cage. Not only that, but Alex had an increasing tendency to quote those movies. Sometimes it would be funny to Pat, but most of the time it wasn’t. Pat had talked to Alex many times about this issue, only to be met with even more quotes, such as “That’s funny, my name’s Roger. Two Roger’s don’t make a right” (Gone in Sixty Seconds). “That doesn’t even make sense” thought Pat. When Pat felt at wit’s end, an ultimatum was made. Pat explained to Alex that by only quoting Nicholas Cage movies, it was getting on Pat’s nerves and when socializing around friends, they all started to make fun of Alex. They even gave Alex a nickname of “Ridiculous Cage”. Therefore, Alex would leave if Pat took away any more fun of watching movies, hanging out with friends. Etc. Alex quoted those movies to feel unique and independent, but Pat’s request reversed those feelings. It actually made Alex feel trapped, in somewhat of a…cage. In fact, when Alex was met with Pat’s final ultimatum, Alex said to Pat “It’s like you’re trying to steal my declaration of indepen-“

Pat left Alex.
