"Listen" by Chelsi Craft

Hurry up, write it down Help someone turn their life around Grew up surrounded by love Didn't stop me from turning to drugs I was always cut down Cruel comments making me frown Some called me slow That didn't help me grow Constantly questioned for why I was me Couldn't they just let me be? "Why are you so quiet?" Well now I'm out of my shell And causing a riot A vengeful ex boyfriend gave me too many green capsules I swallowed them not knowing what would follow He zipped my shirt down, I zipped it back up BACK UP The mushrooms kick in My head begins to spin Fully delusional, my trip turns into a nightmare He takes advantage, he doesn't care Weeks go by and I can barely function At work the mood swings set in They all harass me, act like they're better They call me a junkie, an idiot, a hoe But they don't know They don't know what happened in my life To cause all this strife They said, "Watch out you're gonna get shot." Do they have any clue, that I've got a heart in me too? People say sticks and stones are the only things that hurt I disagree,- words are much worse I would never kill someone, how could you say such a thing? Oh right, I forgot You were saying it to be mean We wonder why school shootings happen Maybe think twice before you judge someone again They make fun of the silent Move the letters around Spell out the word LISTEN
