Buried Pains

I buried my heart

In the backyard

Locked away in a tin can,

A time capsule of sorts.

I wanted to…

Shield it from life’s woes

Tragedies

Sorrows

Pains.

But when I uncovered it,

Thirty years later,

Blood ran a red river

Between

My wrinkled hands.
