If you’re reading this, I want you to know that being in a serious relationship is not easy, but as long as both of you are not giving up (just like Vince and me) all the tears will turn into laughter. That night taught me a few things: 1 communicate even if it’s not easy because bottling up thoughts and feelings can lead to a cuckoo state of mind. 2 appreciate the LOVE that has been given to you do not wait until it’s too late. 3 Too much love can make you do unthinkable things.

Kisses,

Lady D – all written in red coloured crayon kept on top of a dresser drawer.

What really happened that night? Who is Vince? And Who am I?

I feel like I have been in this situation before, but I cannot really remember. I heard footsteps coming towards my direction.

“Do you need anything?” he asked. He looks familiar but I cannot remember his name. He smiled at me and hand me a box of crayon and a few pieces of paper. I looked at him intently wanting to ask a question but decided not to. I grab the things he’s giving me and then I walk away.

I started to draw the clouds and the dark night with twinkling lights. My head hurts terribly. I feel giddy…

As I walk aimlessly, I can hear my heartbeat and I can feel the pain in every step that I am making. After a few minutes, I stopped, sat in the gutter and cried some more. It was getting late and I knew that my sister is already worried because I was gone far too long. With a heavy heart, I muster the courage to drag myself back into the house. But before I get a chance to go inside, I noticed that Vince’s car is still in the driveway. I knocked at the passenger’s window.

“Please don’t leave me. I promise I will be ok”, I begged him.

“Please let me in”, I pleaded.

He opened the passenger’s door. I sat and I cried. He holds my hand and I cried harder than I used to. I put my left arm over his back while holding his right hand. I pushed the pocket knife so hard like it was a hug of death with all my strength. I did it as many times as I can. Blood flows in my arm. It was warm and thick, just like our love for each other. I hold him tightly like I was holding on to my dear life. In this case, he was holding on to his.

“Dolly, Dolly”, the husky-voiced woman while she’s shaking my shoulder to regain my consciousness.

“Nurse Jackie?” I called her name. I can feel the tears running down my cheeks and I laugh. I laugh on top of my lungs while I cry. Next thing I know I am being carried towards my room by Nurse Jackie and the man who looks familiar but I can hardly remember. In case you’re wondering, NO I was not wearing a white robe just like in the movies and none of the patient there was holding a doll singing as if it was their own child.

This is not just my story. This is a story of us and the night that lost him forever, or did I? I guess you’ll never know.
