It's hard to describe the bond two people share; the inimitable and often the whimsical subtlety of a world created when two hearts join as one.

There is a place we love to go

a land no photograph can show

and there we swim in frozen streams

of pretty, sap-sweet, fragile dreams,

blind and calling, lost in empty

heartstrung halls of feasts and plenty,

posed with wire and fixed as wax

with shifting eyes and hearts intact,

but feeling nothing, gently peeling,

neither finding nor revealing

souls, the ones we bury there

the parts of us we cannot bear,

with shallow hearts and heavy hands,

they vanish fast beneath the sand

and lay there safe, exhumed in trust

perhaps by travelers after us,

while we hide like stars in clouds

and count the hours down, down,

down we go into the deep

long twisting flume of fragile sleep

and wait to swim another day

when we can meet again to play.
