If their wings are so bright

how come they can’t fly?

Bathed in white light

They are stars in the sky

Their bodies so nimble, so gentle, so quick

Yet black is the fog that hangs so thick.

They burn.

They run.

cry.

They die.

Yet somehow, they find a light in the sky,

A place in the stars,

A home in their eyes,

But only within the cries of a lie.
