We lived together---- glorified roommates.
I hid him in the closet next to my cosmetics.
He built a shelf in the living room for me to place myself.
Lip--quivering, just the bottom one...
He asked me, “Do you even care we broke up?”
I use my best royal blue tone while the scratched sapphire,
Gave me away.
“To what end.” I say.
It isn’t a question.
It is a short sentence.
It holds me down.
Reminiscent.
He said, “I still love you, Lindsey.”
I fix my eyes due north.
He can’t see my face in the rocking chair
He is adjacent.
He doesn’t really want me.
He’s so young.
He doesn’t even know where his own nose is.
He isn’t accustomed to letting go.
Light.
Hung above me.
BUZZING
I still didn’t turn after -----------long silence.
Indifferent.
I have to be.
I know what’s best for us both.
He reached--for---me.
I got up,
light leather....
Pitter-patter,
I asked,
“Do you want the dog outside?”
Before I lock the door.
