Standing frozen at the alter
Painted in a swan white wedding dress
Lips glossed strawberry pink, hair done up in a curly bun
Lace veil concealed dolled face
Smile frozen under loath filled eyes
Gloved hands tightly grasping her bouquet

Groom beaming, smile reaching his eyes
“I do” escapes his lush red lips
All eyes turn to the bride, her gut clenches
A lump sticks in her throat

“If so say I do” resounds in the air
All goes silent, time slows, or so it seems
Hesitantly, through clenched teeth slips
“I do”

Groom leans in for a kiss
Regret immediately overcomes the bride
His lips hit hers
Cheers erupt throughout the church

Tears spill down her cheeks
No longer able to hold in the misery
Everyone believes they are tears of joy
But her lifetime of torture just began
