Heartbreak never felt like this

Bullseye on my heart, I’m in your crosshairs,

Deadly accuracy, keep me in your prayers.

Blow me apart, shatter me like Fine China,

Leave my body on the beach, Coast of Carolina.

Heartbreak never felt like this, ‘til you broke mine,

Now I don’t feel so good, this all feels so surreal.

Break me down, to the atomic level,

Siren song so sweet, you melodic devil.

Under the spell of a witch, my head feels funny,

This bitch shuffling my brain, like a deck of cards.

You’re tearing me apart, with every kiss,

Try to forget, but when I see you, it’s a memory blitz.

Slashing my lifespan, can’t escape this deathly bliss,

Your hugs make me decay, I’m slowly wasting away.

Snapped your fingers, like Thanos and I disappear,

I’m off to the final frontier, summer breeze takes me away.

Damn those chlorophyll eyes, they get me every time,

A pint-size devil in disguise, men don’t dare to say your name.

More addictive than nicotine, and just as poisonous,

Made my heart combust, burns hotter than Eta Carinae.

A cold hearted bitch, you make it snow in July,

Icy footsteps where you walk, frostbite on my fingers.

My lovely daydream, turned into a waking nightmare,

Feel like Atlas, trying to shoulder this backbreaking despair.

A descent into madness, I’m lost in the blackness,

Need a mechanic, broken down, I need a repair.

Left me flat on my back, in Shavasana, but I don’t do yoga,

My racing heart’s about to blow up, like a supernova.

Attracted to you like a magnet, if you leave, I’ll come chasing,

I tell myself no, but when I push, you always pull me in.

The agony of loving someone, who can light your way in the throne of darkness, or someone who can sink your mind into insalubrious oblivion like quicksand. You just have to discern within your heart, which illumination you want to shine on you, a very nice read. Have a great evening as well.

Love and Hugs,
Kemy

Rejection really is like winter in July. Some people seem to love to attract , only to shatter in return. Excellent writing, MW.

I agree with you, rejection can instantly turn summer into winter. Not only myself, but others I know seem to attract love but only get heartbroken in return. Thank you for reading, I definitely feel like this is one of my better writes, I always love to see your comments :)

This is actually the first piece of writing I've ever read by you. I chose this because the title reminds me of Bullseye from Daredevil :) and plus you read my poem Concussion, so the right thing to do is to read something of yours. This really is a powerful poem. Loving someone can be your light and dark at the same time, happiness and depression, and it really twists your heart like roses and thorns in a fight. Your metaphors are mind-blowing, especially Thanos and his snapping finger. Bloody loved Infinity War. Hully nails it perfectly, that some love to attract, and to shatter the existence in return. This is bloody excellent. One of the best poems I've read in a while.

You picked a good poem to be your first read, I quite have a fondness for this myself. Partially because of how much I flexed my metaphor muscles. Loving someone is just like you described, it can heal your or hurt you, usually both of them at the same time. I'm glad that you enjoyed it, the praise means a lot to me. Thank you for reading :)

So many ways to express how someone's torn you apart, but words will never come close to the actual feeling. You illustrate the pain well, though, with some hard-hitting lines.
"Your hugs make me decay, I'm slowly wasting away." - is the line that really hit me. Small gestures can mean more than some people make them out to be, and those little things can have big impacts on how we feel and how we get close to someone.
Well written!

I agree with you, it's the build up of little things that lead to the big thing. Especially when it comes to a breakup, sometimes it can be cause by one major event, but most of the time it's all the little things and then it's a straw that broke the camels back.
This poem is one of my personal favorites, because of all the hard hitting lines and all of the metaphors that I used.
Thanks for reading!
