Some Lines for Mina Loy (and one for you)

Experience holds no district

that poetry cannot break,

no feeling, momentary or anchored,

occupies continuously;

love is not a panoply?

“the present implies presence”.

Very little has changed:

I stay up late, sit outside with my cat,

listen for the wind chimes, prefer the minor black

over major mood, and watch the moon;

I still change the candles

after they have formed a waxy stalactite…

besides, I have planted irises, purple ones,

they are simple, they remind me to be present.

“The harshness of the past” is not embalmed,

let it erode and become like buried bones,

living finds use for everything,

even in loves erasure;

we are all parts inflorescent,

and all the grey that is left of a deciduous life.

Dear Mina Loy, I found peace in The Lost Lunar

(lost lover, these lines aren’t for you anymore)
