Dear Casey,

~

Let’s rethink everything you did today,

What could’ve you done better?

You shouldn’t have done that, should’ve gone about it some other way.

Can you feel the heat start to burn around your sweater?

~

Scratch the back of your neck,

Hold your head in your hands.

Look at you, you’re a disgusting, blubbering wreck.

Don’t let others know you, make up an excuse; change your plans.

~

Now that I’m here you can’t do anything.

I’m all you think about, aren’t I?

Filling your mind with dread, always lingering.

Don’t tell the others they wouldn’t understand; just lie.

~

Repeat after me “Yes, I’m doing fine,”

“I’ll tell you if something is up,

“I’m doing something right now, can we talk some other time?”

Repeat, repeat, repeat. Repeat until you’re left alone, you’re mind on lockup.

~

What if you don’t get this done?

What will the others think?

You’re all alone, no place to run.

Don’t tell a soul because they will leave faster than you can blink.

~

I am something deep inside you that you cannot exchange.

I am the switch in you that people see as bad in society.

I am that brewing sensation in you, that change;

anxiety.
