This was it. We were almost there. I felt to cold smooth touch of the rail and...

When I was walking out to the park after school, I saw it. It sat still on the old screechy swing at the other end of the park. Staring straight at me. As my mom parked on the side of the road to pick me up, it stood up. I started a dead sprint toward my mom’s car. The faster I went, the faster it went. The closer I got to the car, the closer it got to me.

You’re gonna wanna hide in your bed after I explain it. Skip this paragraph if you’re not brave.  It is not male or female, human or alien, nothing I can confirm. It has a white marionette mask. There are purple lines going down Its face. All black clothes, except the white thing on its arm.  It’s at least eight feet tall. It’s as skinny as my science teacher. Yeah, scary.

You could say it is probably just a clown trying to scare me. That’s what I thought, but if it is, how can nobody else see it? Everyday it follows me further from the park. Last night, it came all the way into Allen. That’s at least 5 miles. Is that not creepy?

“Hey, is your family busy next weekend?” Chase asks me As I’m walking into the school the next morning. “Not that I’ve been told”, I happily reply. “Why do you ask?” I question curiously. “Oh, my family is having a thanksgiving party and my mom wanted to know if your family wanted to come.” “That would be great, I will ask my mom.” I burst with pure excitement.

I unknowingly realize that I’ve been having this conversation right next to the park. I rush to get Chase and I inside. In the rush, I trip over the stair and meet the hard unforgiving concrete of the next step. The cold hard rough feeling of the concrete is not one I would like to feel.

Next thing I know, I’m in a bed with people in blue shirts talking in sophisticated words. I lean my head to the right to see that my parents are sitting in futuristic chairs watching the people talk about stuff. “What’s going on?” I ask. “You hit your head hard and cracked part of your skull.” My dad tells me. “ You hit your head on concrete and suffered a concussion, just a minor injury” My mom says giving my dad the eye.

“Do I have to go to school tomorrow?” I ask. “No, not for 3 days”, my mother replies. “When can we go home? Is Chase ok?”, I wonder with worry. “Chase is fine”, my mom informs me. ”We can go home in about an hour”.

After three days of eating and sleeping, I’m required to go to school. Unfortunately I can’t forget about, it. Along with everything that happened it was my biggest concern.

As we’re driving down U.S 12, I hear a sound that I wasn’t familiar with. “Of course, out of gas”, my mom complains. As I’m almost falling back asleep in the back seat I hear a clunk sound. I turn around to see that there’s a truck towing the car home. Did they forget I was in there? Thoughts of worry are running through my head.

All of a sudden, Bang! The truck pulling us ran into a semi and the truck was rekt big time. I had no choice but to get out and look for my mom and sister. I get out and look everywhere. Nobody was in sight…

Except, it. I make a dead sprint going east toward jonesville. Good thing I was a cross country runner. Every car had just been sitting on the road. Not a human in sight. I never let up. Pushing myself to keep running, knowing it was right behind me.

As I’m running, I caught an unexpected climps of two people my size ahead of me running in the same direction. “Wait, wait for me!”, I yell frantically. Running for my life I slowly start to catch up to the others. It turns out, it was Chase and someone else in my grade. “Gabby?”

“Where have you been?”, Chase aggravatedly yells. “Where have I been? Where have you been? What’s going on?”, I ask. “You’ll see”, Chase is obviously annoyed of my questions. In all this yelling, we forget that it is right behind us.

By the time we got to the Jonesville city limit sign, we were gaining distance. Every vehicle on U.S. 12 was abandoned. No other human for 100 miles. Or maybe even the whole earth.

We kept up a dead sprint down twelve. Dodging and hurdling cars. It was as if we had an unlimited stamina. By the time we were by the middle school we thought we had lost it.

He was only too close to see. This was it, we were almost there. I felt the cold smooth touch of the rail. Suddenly..

I wake up!

I’m laying in a hospital bed. Nobody near me. How did I get here? Why am I alone? As I think to get up. I see a shadow under the crack of the door. As the door creaks open I can feel the adrenaline pumping. I was ready to spring up and start running. Unfortunately for me, it was right in front of me before I could make a move.

I go to get up as its arms start to raise and I notice there is a creepy knife in its hands. Frozen in fear, I had no control of my body. Its hands start to swing down slowly in my mind. Yet I know it’s happening fast. I feel the sharp blade from start to finish. Diving further and further into my body. Everything became hazy and was moving in slow motion before the world went black.

And that’s how I died.

Looking back on that life. I feel that I’ve had lots of thrilling and nightmarish adventures. What will happen in the next?

To be continued
