Don’t worry little girl, there is no fear to be spread

The monsters you think to be under your bed,

Are really the demons that lurk inside your head.

Tell yourself this story to keep from the truth instead

Avoid confrontation, that’s what you mostly dread.

Defeat, disappointment, and distress hide in the corner hanging by a thread.

Don’t embrace the thought, don’t be misled.

The shadows of demons are working against you,

Hiding under a blanket of insecurities will not get you through

The night of terrors that wait to come into view.

Don’t accept the blissful abyss, it will make promises you can’t refuse.

Can’t you see this is too good to be true?

The night has its own price and you will have to pay its due.

Lightning strikes as thunder rolls in the background,

Wake up little girl! This is a nightmare you seem to have found

Recognize your life is not on solid ground

Listen to the melody of reality, the soothing sound

Is crickets outside your house, as the rain is falling down.

Listen to your sanity, it is profound!!

Don’t worry little girl, you are protected by those sheets of white;

Your pillows collect the nightmares and make them take flight.

Whisk away with dreams of euphoria and delight,

The worst is over now; let’s just get through this night.

The monsters crawl out from under the bed and take pity as they tuck you in tight,

Placing a teddy bear in your arms for protection, knowing very well, you have much bigger demons to fight.
