Inspired by a rainy day, I was thinking about how much nature actually changes around us. I wanted to depict something that actually captured that while also making something personal.

The petrichor rises,
The softening of
The land letting go.

The packed dirt,
Rigid in its forms,
at last gives way
To falling streams,
Releasing perfumed scents
It harbored deep within,
A smell that might arise
On mountain tops,
Not fearful
Of being beaten down,
As new worlds
Arise below the ground.

The sky does mourn
The land it reforms
The rocks it beats
The continents it erodes
But through its sadness
What new worlds
What new life,
Might bloom.
