Paramnesia of a Fish

Thin veneer of immaculate ice is

Tucked beneath the grey sky

From where a grain of salt,

Pale pink but pink nonetheless, falls—

Hits a wall and disperses a whole nation.

The glacial gaze suggests a whirlwind

To turn in many ways, to find pleasure in turning,

In returning. Whichever way the wind faced,

It was so close but not quite.

Nearing the wall, the asteroid-salt saw

That the wall was not a wall at all but a

Mirror, and

Nearing itself, the salt-asteroid felt the closing

Verdict of virtue, dispensed in immense passion

By itself,

To itself,

Within an instant of salient

Pink.
