I ran from your

suffocating

predictable

love because

it was killing me

more than

I ever thought possible

who knew love could

hurt you more than

the pain and cold

of being alone.

But now I am free

and I let my wings

spread to those who

put in the effort for me

I give the most

vulnerable part of me

away to those

who keep me on my toes

and with my hands behind

my back and their

large hand

full of no expectations

wrapped around my neck

just enough so I can

swallow the smile on my face

as I give myself away like

I never thought of doing before.

I am happier than I have

ever been because

I am not exclusive

or responsive to

anyone

but my own damn self.
