The Lemon Parable

Travis woke up in a room full of lemons.

He looked around at the room. It was still full of lemons.

Travis was laying down in a 20x20 foot room with a giant pile of lemons scattered throughout. He could not even see the floor.

Travis stood up.

Squish.

He heard more lemons squish beneath his feet. Upon further investigation Travis could see this room was entirely white with no door, or exit in sight. Travis paused for a moment.

He then asked to no one in particular: “Why the hell am I in a room full of lemons?” the room did not answer. This puzzled Travis, not because the room did not answer, but rather because he was still inside of a room full of lemons.

He picked up a lemon near him and observed it. “This is a completely normal lemon” he thought to himself, set it down in the close proximity, and sat down the ponder his surroundings.

Squish.

Travis began to wonder about how deep and full of lemons the room actually was. As he had observed earlier there we no floor visible from where he was sitting.

Travis moved some lemons aside in hope that he would be able to see the bottom from where he was sitting.

Squish.

He could not see the floor. Or a door, or anything.

Except more lemons.

This frustrated Travis. He was no longer confused, he was angry. Travis picked up the lemon of which he had observed earlier.

He squeezed the lemon.

Squish.
