A hesitant mind stares out at the world, ever moving ever shifting,

details maturing into ideas, taking a life of its own, no longer constrained.

Shadows become figures and figures morph to faces. Yet

with no one to care, no one to listen, the story dies…

His hesitant mind returns to menial tasks


A hesitant mouth opens for barely a moment teeth

aching for revenge against those wronged.

Speech boils into existence but simmers when

the doors are closed again…

Their hesitant mouths return to their immobile state


A hesitant hand hovers over the page, graphite reaching

for its complement, held back by tender and calloused chains.

Words leak from soul to brain to fingers but

with perfection’s pressure pushing down on heavy shoulders…

Her hesitant hand jerks away


Hesitate and you avoid rejection, avoid fiery words, avoid inadequacy…

Hesitate and you ignore the chance of being your own collection

Hesitate and you ignore the wings with which you can soar like the birds

Hesitate and you ignore the factual evidence of your idiosyncrasy…

Hesitate and you play is safe; but push past that hesitant cage?
