Instant Part of History.

I’m not sure what it is but for some reason it’s so hard to say what I mean.

Conversation is the worst thing ever. All those doubts that creep in – should I really say that? Better perhaps, not to. So then we get the long silences that quite simply are so hard to break.

Or maybe you start chattering, about anything and everything, and I end up being lost in the translation of it all. There’s some hidden meaning to it; there has to be. Why else word you be spouting so much garbage?

And me, well, my tongue will trip me up if my brain does not do it first. The words will come out wrong.

Typing it out is so much better, at least on the face of it. Now, with computers, we have the good old back-space button; words said in error can be deleted and replaced again and again.

It’s true! Never before have we had it so easy to change what we say. But then there’s the moment when our fingers run away from our brains, or maybe it’s the other way and our fingers are lagging. Whichever, I press that button and then its ‘NO!’

It doesn’t take long to notice that my words are a muddle, don’t say what I mean, but it’s too late to change it now.....they have been sent to become an instant part of history.

Appologize! It’s not hard, doesn’t take any longer. Is it enough? Who knows? I certainly don’t. And just think how many pairs of eyes can now witness the disassociation between my mind and my movements, my head and my fingers.

There should be a warning -- ‘Pause before pressing ‘Send’’. Would it save countless embarrassment? The truth is probably not.
