After Stella and I had a talk she mind linked me that she couldn't find Emmerson. My heart dropped as soon as those words entered my link.

Together we looked over the expanse of the manor—inside and out. I went to every room checking for her. When she asked to stay in a different room I should have complied.

There were dozens of available rooms that were fixed up. I had the aristocratic board over to do business. But no, I let my selfishness get in the way. I open all the rooms up on my floor, the second floor, and the first floor. I even went as far as checking the dungeons and attic space.

It wasn't long till one if maids came forth with some valuable information. This particular maid had been trying to bed me for years.

"Master! Master I know where the little wench went!" She purred to me in a seductive voice while crooning over my arm.

Ripping my arm away from her claw-like grasp I asked, "Does this happen to have anything to do with you wanting to bed me?"

"M-master why would assume anything like that?" She cooed in mock surprise.

"Stop with the act Leslie! You either truly know where she's at or you're to be sent to the dungeons!" I yelled in my authoritative voice.

"Y-yes Master. I-I tru–" but before Leslie could finish Agatha answered me instead.

"Young Master Leslie is telling the truth. The poor creature's eyes were halfway out of her face. She has come upon us and the dignitaries." Agatha finished before bowing.

"Well why didn't you stop her?!" I asked my eyes bulging out of their socket. "The Beast" so desperately wants to take over.

"We didn't want to cause a scene in front of almost all the Councils." Leslie and Agatha responded at the same time. "We sent Rupert after her but after about six hours or so in he had lost her. He said she's somewhere deep in the forest."

"Take Leslie down to the dungeons. After you and Hamilton come with me!" I sped off to my office to wait for Hamilton and Stella.

"Master Leslie has been taken care of. We will be there shortly." Hamilton linked me sounding worried.

A couple minutes later true to their word Hamilton and Stella appeared. Instead of them coming in themselves I went to go unlock the door and usher them in.

"Ye ookay Boy?"Stella asked with a worried look painted across her face.

"Yes I have good and bad news." I said tenting my fingers on my desk.

Hamilton frowned and spoke first. "Well it's always good to get the bad news out in the air first, Sir." He said slightly bowing his head.

"As you wish. Bad news is we lost where Emmerson went... Good news is the maids sent Rupert to follow the girl, but after six hours he lost her." I said huffing and pinching the bridge of my nose.

"She's been out there for almost a whole day by 'erself!" Stella exclaimed in worry and shock.

"Yes, yes that's why we need to locate Rupert and have him take us as deep into the woods as he went before getting lost." I said resisting the urge to bang my fists upon my desk.

"Emmerson! Emmerson..." A voice cooed in my ear.

"Momma is that you?" I asked breathless, expecting pain to rush over me from my broken wrist.

"Emmie listen to me darling. You have to trust this man. He needs your help sweetheart." My Mom crouched down beside me, pushing my hair away from my face.

"B-But he hurt m-me just like Daddy did." I cried out tears staining my cheeks.

"I've seen Sweetheart, but he needs you. He may hurt you more, but you have to be gentle. Talk to his inner beast..."

I gently sat up looking around to look for my Mom. She was nothing but what seemed to be a misted version of her former self. I tried to grab on to her and hug her to my body. That just made her misty self break up and reform.

"Inner beast? Momma what inner beast?" I asked scrunching my eyebrows together.

"I must go some one is coming. Remember what I said darling. Be gentle and sweet like I know you are and things will work out fine." Mom said looking at me with my own eyes.

Right then I awoke with a scream that could shatter glass. Three people gathered at the entrance of the cave, while someone was by me. The little light the glow worms provided was now gone, and I along with the others were casted into darkness.

"W-Who are you? What d-do you want?" I asked in a shaky voice.

Just then a voice I remembered from the other night broke through the silence.

"It's just us Deary. Ye gave us quite the fright running off like that." The nice lady who gave me clothes said.

I tried to move but the person by me grabbed my unharmed arm to stop me. I strained my eyes to get a better look at the person. I-It's Him th-the monster.

I let out a terrified scream and tried to rip my arm out of his grasp. He broke the other one I didn't want him hurting the unharmed wrist too.

"P-Please...please d-don't break my o-only working w-wrist." I cried out tear brimming my bottom eyelids.

Just then his deep burly voice broke out. "I-I'm not—" he tried to say but another person spoke up.

"Sir, I believe it's best you come out here with the rest of us." Another man said with a slight accent. At the sound of his gentle voice I casted my eyes to the cave entrance again.

Slowly I noticed the sun was starting to rise. Releasing his grip on my wrist the scary man started to get up. Flinching away from him I scooted further back into the cave. He just let out a sigh and walked the rest of the distance out the cave.

Once again the woman spoke up. "Deary, do ye mind if I come in?" She asked. I nodded my head "no" as my reply.

"I only trust you. You haven't hurt me, you saved me from him." I said gently before spitting out the last word like venom.

"Ookay, I'm going to just check yer wrist."

"Alight, just you." I said wiping away the rest of the tears with the back of my hand.

Slowly she entered the cave and came over to me. Crouching in front of me she took something out of her apron. Gently grabbing my hurt arm she placed it in a wrist brace. The swelling made it hard to clasp the Velcro to the adhesive side. Wincing I flex my fingers on my unhurt hand.

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to 'urt ye." The portly elderly woman said crouching in front of me.

"Stella hurry the hell up and get her out of the wretched cave!" Reuben yelled out in his authoritative tone.

Whispering I say to Stella, "Please don't make me go back to that house. I don't want him to hurt me anymore."

Looking at my with pity in her eyes Stella looks back at Reuben. The harsh scowl on his face. Let's me know he heard every word I said.

"Sweetie, I promise he won't 'urt ye. I'll make sure of that, ' cause if 'e does 'e knows I'm goona 'urt 'im!" She say looking him straight in the eyes.

"No I'd rather stay out here and die than be forced back into the same room as him!" I shout at him, but it doesn't seem to phase him.

Grumbling Reuben finally speaks up breaking his tough façade. "If it makes you feel any better you can have your own room. I promise not to bother you unless I absolutely have to." He says looking at his feet and then back up to my eyes.

"You promise? You promise! That's what you said the other night and look how that turned out. I wake up to find you kissing me!" I say shooting daggers at him with my eyes.

It's then I realize what I've said. My face heats up and so does Reuben's from the sight of him blushing. All of the others look between the two of us. Looking back down at my hands I finally grumble out an "okay."

Finally after a couple hours we find Emmerson. Since she's my mate and I bit her I can easily track her scent. Coming up to a beautiful clearing I find her in a cave.

She's paler than normal and she's cradling her wrist against her chest. Running to her my heart breaks.

Whispering to myself I pull her unharmed hand into mine. I can still feel a faint pulse. Pushing a strand of hair away from her face I look back at the others.

Just then a scream breaks through the silence. It's a blood curdling scream. I look down and find it's coming from the frail woman beside me.

She frantically sits up and looks around. First she takes in Hamilton, Stella and Rupert before finally bring her gaze back to me. She speaks up asking who we are.

Stella is the first one to break the silence and comfort her. Jealousy stirs within me, but I know Emmerson wouldn't seek any comfort from my words.

She tried to get up and walk over to Stella but I stopped her.  I guess she recognized me and let out another scream before speaking.

"P-Please...please d-don't break my o-only working w-wrist." Hearing her speak those words caused something in me to break.

"The Beast" even whimpered at the broken sound of her voice. I let out a sigh and turned my head facing away from her I didn't want her to see the hurt that was bound to be on my face.

Looking back down at her face I tried to speak. "I-I'm not—" but before I could even finish Hamilton spoke breaking me off.

He told me it was best if I probably came away from her like the rest of them. Growling I agreed and slowly made my way out the cave and stood between Stella and Rupert. I noticed she flinched which angered and saddened me.

After I was out the cave for a few minutes Stella talked Emmerson into letting her go into the cave. Stella seemed to somehow earn Emmerson's trust. Something not even her own mate can do.

Her melodious voice broke me out of my thoughts. "I only trust you. You haven't hurt me, you saved me from him." The way she said "him" froze my blood.

"Look what you did Reuben." My beast berated.

"I know, boy do I know..." I sigh in utter defeat.

"You know she's going to put up a wall that will be a bitch to break down, right?" He asked me in a slightly lighter voice than mine.

"That what I'm afraid of." Letting the sadness slip into the voice in my head.

Emmerson's wince brought me out of my argument with my beast. I see Stella fasten the wrist brace onto her swollen wrist. My beast—Eric—growled in my head making me snap at Stella.

"Stella hurry the hell up and get her out of the wretched cave!" I boomed out as cruelly as I could. Whether she meant to she hurt my mate.

"Calm down Eric. Our temper is what got us into this situation in the first place." I bit out at him.

"Now it's my turn to say 'sorry' isn't it?" He asked whining.

The next thin I heard Emmerson speak broke my heart in two. She didn't want to go back to our home. Wait did I say "our" home?

"Yes you did dumb ass." Eric jokingly said laughing.

Tired of seeing her flinch away from me I gently spoke up. "If it makes you feel any better you can have your own room. I promise not to bother you unless I absolutely have to."

Reluctantly she agreed to going back to the house. Moving into the cave I gently pick her up bridal style. I can tell she's exhausted because she doesn't even argue about me touching her. Soon after we I start walking out the cave she burrows her face into the curve of my neck.

Without her noticing her lips brush against the skin where my neck and collar bone meet. My body stiffens when she did that. I try and act like nothing happens. It's then that I notice her feet.

Gently I whisper into her hair. "What happen to your feet Emmy?"

"I-I was running...for so long... I guess they blistered. I didn't notice...until I found the cave that they were...bleeding. Did you just call me Emmy?" She breathed against my neck as he spoke.

"I'm sorry I won't call you that anymore if you don't want me to." I said with a slight frown tainting my lips.

I let out a sigh of relief when she told me that it was okay. I told her to close her eyes and sleep. We finally made it back to the manor . Setting Em down on my bed I left her to get rest.

When she wakes up you're gunna have to treat her broken wrist and wounded feet.
