She lay in a chamber of darkened ice
Shivering and aching all through the night
The carriage of death came and swung low
Its driver surveyed the body silent and cold
He took up the invalid for a moonlight ride
The black carriage starting out into the night
Banshee was heard with all her screams
For she saw in the distance a small lights gleam
She then saw a man with muddy brown hair
An intelligent brow and complexion so fair
And bright blue eyes, blue as the sky
Pulling on a rope with all of his might
For the rope was tied to the wheel of the carriage
Inside was the maid to whom he was pledged in marriage
He would not let her die, no he wouldn’t let go
At least, that is how the story goes
The man pulled the carriage down and took out his bride
He said to the driver “She is mine tonight”
“Go, leave here now!” the man said as the driver placed a hand to his brow
He tipped up his hat, then flicked the reigns, never to come ‘round again

Now that is the end of a story so true
Tis the story of me and the story of you
