Feeling like no one will ever understand the mind that’s trying to die

While their loved one is fighting to survive

Living life in different ways

Trying to get through another day

My mind wants me anywhere but here

Living to see another day is one of my biggest fears

But for you and your loved one, seeing another day is the greatest gift

It gives hope and renews the spirit

Another day for me is filled with heaviness, grief, loneliness, and a loss of myself

It brings with it more of the feeling that I cannot be helped

Do you feel that my battle is less than that of your loved one because you can’t see it?

With physical illness people come out of the woodwork to rally around and raise support

But with mental illness people hide and speak in hushed tones

For the most part leaving you on your own

People with physical battles are generally shown more compassion, love, and understanding

While those fighting their mind are written off by many as attention-seeking

One would never say things to someone fighting a physical battle that they would to those battling their mind

They just look at us and say, “Oh, you don’t need any help, you’re fine
