Grey clouds block out the sunlight,

Plunging the world into an ice age.

The wind begins to roar with might,

Weather warnings, a storm approaching.

On this cold December night, the world goes white,

As the first snowflakes of winter, begin to fall.

The city becomes still, rigor mortis sets in,

Everyone hides indoors, no one wants frostbite.

Flurries evolve to a blizzard, the snow begins

To stack like Legos, without making a sound.

So much has fallen, you can’t see the ground,

Everything starts to shut down, a domino effect.

How long will it snow? Well, no one knows,

Inconsistent information, can’t trust the weatherman.

Distant sounds of snowplows, desperately trying

To revive the city, from it’s cardiac arrest.

A winter wonderland, snowmen stand at attention,

An army stretching on infinitely, towards the horizon.

The dying sunlight shimmers off of icicles, making

It look like diamonds, are beginning to grow on trees.

Father time is undefeated, snow melts with each

Passing moment, the earth turns colorful again.

Grey clouds fade into vapor, the sunlight breaks through,

And warms the winter wonderland, back to life.
