Humans are like water; formless

Humans are like water. We are free-flowing until there are barriers to shape it. The difference between people and water is we create our own barriers. The only way to create barriers for ourselves is through the mind. When we mistake the mind for ourselves we believe everything it says good or bad. As soon as we believe these things we create a barrier for ourselves. Not allowing us to grow beyond what we think we can accomplish. A good example of this can be seen in athletes. A great fighter always has a great trainer behind him. Not only to teach him techniques but to push him beyond his mental limits. It takes an outside force to get a fighter to his ultimate best not because he's not capable of doing it himself, but when things get hard his mind will say "I can't do this." It takes a strong outside force in the form of a trainer to tell him you can otherwise the fighter will believe his mind. Stopping him short of becoming the best he can be. If he listens to his mind and makes the mistake of identifying with it he simply won't reach the level he's capable of reaching. Your mind is there for one reason; to help you survive. Anything beyond survival will irritate the mind because it doesn't want to be uncomfortable, so it takes willpower. The mind doesn't see the survival advantage of pushing past your limits so it fights every step of the way. By telling you all the reasons why you should stop. If you believe the mind is you, you will stop. If you are aware you're greater than the mind you will achieve great things. Use the mind as a tool, don't let the tool use you. Each time you overcome the mind the more you will see it's not you, and you will feel the feeling of freedom.
