The day I was raped.

I told no one,

He was a brother in blue.

I was asked what was I wearing.

That question still hunts me.

They never asked if I said no,

So the second time I was raped.

I blamed myself.

Not telling anyone afraid

of what they would say.

I remember screaming no.

But no doesn't, mean no.

Does it?

We are told No means yes,

and yes still means yes.

So I ask myself what I did wrong.

Was I wearing something that provoked him.

What was it that made them think it was okay.

What they don't tell us is that we did nothing

wrong. It was not our fault.

That it doesn't matter what we wear.

That we have a right to say no.

We have the right to speak up.

We have the right.
