Long List to Decide the Greatest Story

Title unshared between a thousand pens

like bread and fish in holy division

printed flesh writes on, rhyme ever-deepens

which ink-old lace to hem this decision.

Not this one, the next shall quake the grave’s place

for page after untold page, out-read life

no ladder climbs to the next side of space

no tale-wedded legend will take a wife.

Myth says the vying lose their gooey heart

with green eyes, bleed every vein to death

if Icarus should publish his own part

win the longest, greatest, most proclaimed breath.

the list still seeks the voice most bewitching.

Letter To The Sidereal Sovereignties

Do not dream the sovereign sun in my face

melt will see fit to the reign of dark matter

Do not hope the atoms will obey their place

heat will hum their bodies: empire, you shall scatter!

This cried sincerely from the horizon’s daughter

the lip of the orbit casting her womb

if gone the galaxy on a wave of slaughter

let your kingdom greet a new race in its tomb.

Noon of the Vintage Poetics

This paper is the jasmine bard

Tell her to lilt in breezes on the muslin hill

This bottle is full of syrup bloom and lilies

Ask it to butter the chipped swan of the sill

Come hither to find where rhyme sews the sea

You will master it at your desk when it spills

Seek the crest of land where the tales run free

The world will be taught the language of quills.
