Who are We?

We are one

not because my face

is your face but

because we make the

same expressions;

you recognize things

I thought no one would

ever see.

We are one

not because we think

the same thoughts but

because they happen

simultaneously;

I silently dream

and know you do too.

We are one

not because we want to be

but because life is intertwined.

We get tangled in other

peoples webs and wonder

who will save us.

We are one

not because of what we’ve

made but because of what

we’re made up of;

Our favorite color may not

be red, but we both bleed it.

We are one

and we don’t have to

like it,

but we are indeed

one type of civilization

just like those ones we

were taught about in

story books, and

what is said about us

matters.
