I’ve never told anyone that I like to sit, alone, waiting for nothing to happen when things are going on.

I’ve never told anyone that on starless nights, I climb out the window and let the wind overtake me, and on cloudy nights I just like to think.

I’ve never told anyone that I don’t like people or parties.

I’ve never told anyone that I am afraid of butterflies.

I’ve never told anyone that my best friend is a vegetarian.

I’ve never told anyone that I like to sit at the bottom of deep pools so my ears won’t hear the cries of bigotry.

I’ve never told anyone that I love strawberry ice-cream but I prefer vanilla.

I’ve never told anyone that poison ivy doesn't scare me but I am terrified of loneliness and fire.

I’ve never told anyone that I am hopeless.

Well, now I have.
