When I met you, you had a broken heart,
Like a jigsaw puzzle with missing parts.
Seeing you sad made mine break as well,
So I took pieces of mine to fix yours without fail.
To my amazement, my heart was still whole,
As long as I was with you, my heart remained ——unbroke.
As time passed, our hearts became one,
for each time a piece broke, we fixed with our ——own.
Then one day as we shared one heart,
You went with another, to have a new start.
As you grew further into the arms of another,
The heart you took became foreign and utter.
For now I am heartless and without love,
Not even pieces to fix what once was.
And yet love tries to find me from time to time,
My missing heart finds no words like a blind mime.
Now I build a wall to protect this heart of glass,
To ensure no hurt will come of it if ever anyone. ——should pass.
For surely if it shatters I would be no more,
I would turn to shards as well scattered all over ——the floor.
The glass heart will work for the time being,
As time goes by, so will it’s feeling.
But for now I will sit and protect this wall,
And hope that one day I will regain what I lost.
For I know you are out there, my love to be,
My only hope is that you are not as broken as me.
