A Rain Birds Call

Bubbling notes echo down the road,

A sweet symphony,

This song that comes before the rain,

Mostly mist after a hot summers day.

A big bird hidden in the trees,

Quiet... every time I look it's way.

I have heard it's song,

The promise of rain to come.

Have you seen the rain bird?

In it's various different forms,

The sound changes wherever you go,

But the rain comes all the same.

I have known the rain,

The water that runs down my face.

Slept under a sleeping bag,

As cars drive by on a busy highway at night.

The cold is what I know,

Numbness in my fingers and bones.

Wishing that I were away from the cold,

Hoping to go home.

So I know the rain,

But I cherish the Rain Birds Call.

For I only ever hear it,

When I am close to home.

Lead me home Father,

As I walk this earthly road.

Often on my own but I am not alone,

Lead me Heavenward and Home.

Holy Father Lead me Home.
