Pine Trees

The Pine Trees that surround my life, safe reassuring

carelessly wave hello and goodbye to me each day.

I'm eager to see the beautiful green, for I had not seen them in a day

but when I arrive they no longer surrounded me.

The Pine Trees that surrounded my life have vanished.

Green plush trees that I once spent hours watching sway in the breeze,

were now ugly grey skyscrapers that touched the sky.

I was only gone a few days, my eyes were beaten from the color.

Then I saw her

The last Pine Tree

I stayed with her, she wasn't going to be taken away.

Soon days turned into weeks and those weeks turned into grueling years,

but I still sat with her every waking hour.

I soon was being seduced by the temptations of Deaths kiss

so I took one last stroll around those ugly concrete buildings.

When I returned to her, she noticed my smile as her beautiful leaves covered me.

At that moment I knew my Death would be surrounded by Pine Trees they had planted

for me.
