A Single Blade of Grass

Cassidi Cline

A single blade of grass. Not much, but still immensely important to this world. Beside its brother, the tree, it provides so many things for other organisms on this planet. The air we breathe, house materials for birds, protection from danger, and so much more. It learns from the brother tree to care for others and nurture the things it cares about. It must be careful though. If it cares for a weed, it may wilt, later regretting to be so careless.

A single blade of grass. So much potential in a diminutive object. You may think it could be a blade of grass, but it can be something else. It could be the sprout of a plant, bursting with potential. Unrecognizable at such a young stage, you couldn’t guess what it could become. It may bloom to be a great orchard, delivering fruit to let others flourish around it. It may be the start of a weed; a small flower that may sicken other grass around it, only to be plucked someday in the future.

A single blade of grass. These small organisms are so much like us; they’re more relatable than you may assume. We people on this earth are all grass blades, waiting to bloom and see what we could become. We have potential to become large orchards, bearing the fruit of knowledge for others to consume and to later share with others. Weeds have flourished on this earth. There has been a great loss for truth. The world’s soil has grown parched of hope. We must water the soil with determination and optimism, returning our world to a more suitable state. From this new soil, we can all grow into a flourishing forest of orchards, growing and blooming into something so many others can look up to and depend on.

A single blade of grass. So much Potential… so many opportunities… so much hope.
