When you crash and burned through my atmosphere I felt guilty I didn't attempt to cushion your fall I only shielded my eyes your fire was too bright to watch directly I couldn't even look you in the eye as I killed you You, ablaze, within an inferno of disappointment of regret of infinite "maybes" that will never manifest You were a daydreaming comet bound to crumble as soon as you came within my orbit. You didn't expect to burn You were only exploring.

Earth looked so beautiful on the outside Who knew my skies were so unforgiving Who knew being grounded could end so sinister.

You were so used to floating You travelled far to kiss these clouds Only to combust Your fantasy is now a dark dust I feel so sorry for shooting stars who never get to make a wish upon themselves.
