Moonlit Lake.

I sit upon its banks and study

the silver moonlit glow;

it’s up way out in space

and in the water down below.

The water gently ripples,

distorts that silver orb

and makes me think some magic

from that moon it must absorb.

The lake is large and very deep

but I will take no heed

as in to its cool waters

my heart it does me lead.

I’ll swim as gently as I can,

with splashes that are few,

and try to make my movement

not distort the lunar view.

The reflection I can almost touch

I’ll dive my way deep down,

and only when I’m certain

that the moon will be a crown;

I’ll thrust up to the surface,

scatter moondust to the sky,

a perfect hit of silver shards

and now I’ll tell you why.

I’m making here a magic wish,

don’t want it to go wrong,

the moondust and the lunar spikes

are elementally strong.

Back upon the drier ground

the moon’s back and gives a smile;

it seems to say it might come true,

maybe in a while.
