Paled by the impossible
eyes shut to see clearly and plausible
a way is being made to a surface
to catch a breath of the completely perfect
to redirect to another lesson
and reemerge with a new complexion

A disguise is finalized
composed of emotions
the same way singular waves
become vast oceans
and a sense of oneness is made
in which all life can bathe
but not a moment is saved for anything

Reaching through a window in a doorway
a soothing gesture is made to two tense shoulders
suggesting that there is no rhetoric
just a kink in a neck
and the apprehension blows over and over

"I love you" slips from her lips
like nutrients through her stomach
and what was once disappointment
is offset by electric currents
without an ambition
without a condition
just to be lived in
and over and over.
