When desperation sets in...what path do you follow? One of fear? Or one of hopeful anticipation? I've fallen to fear for so long - but no longer!

Vibrations jar my tender ears

And noises crowd my mind;

I'm suddenly overcome by Fears

That saturate and blind.

Fears within and Fears without

Soon pool before my eyes -

Fears that spring from selfish doubt

And slowly paralyze.

Oh, Fear, you claim to bring relief

From anything that's daunting;

But is it only a brief reprieve

From a fate that's twice as haunting?

Faith, you offer hope to all

And clearly state your standards,

But isn't it worth a taste of gall

To dwell beneath your banners?

Why, then, do I allow Fear in

To bring me gifts of death,

When Faith tries every way

To win my 'till my dying breath?

Will it be the better choice

To let you, Fear, take lead?

Or should I finally raise my voice

And bravely sign Faith's creed?

I hesitate, just one short pause,

For Fear is all I've known!

Then, muster courage and sign the clause -

For Faith will bring me home.
