The sunrise spoke in hues of red -

Brows crimsoned from the fight

That Darkness waged against the Sun

In hopes of quenching Light -

Yet, whispered melancholy blues

To temper being right.

Oh, what would be the world's array

If we, as does the sun,

Would voice our victory through the skies

And yet - although we've won -

Would let our tears like raindrops fall

For those we've overrun?
