Drive-By Assassination Of The Heart.

How often did she curse the time

that she was standing there;

as if the pain of broken hearts

she’d not already had her share.

That car had to slow a bit,

the light just there showed red;

the car was so familiar

but it messed up so her head.

For there he was, the only one,

revving up and set to go,

the girl that sat beside him there

wanted her to know.

That single glimpse was all it took

for her heart to go and shatter,

that he was two-timing her

was not what really mattered --

the girl who’d winked and waved her hand

was her own best friend;

both were lost, she was alone

and felt it was the end.

A simple drive-by killing

in which they had taken part,

assassinating as they passed

her entire heart.
