As the night grew darker, beasts of all sizes crawled through the thick mud and immense canopies above. Howls and snarls could be heard from miles away. The weed covered ground was lush and soaked with the recent rainfall. Predators lurked just out of sight, stalking the small, helpless prey of the rainforest. Immense streaks of lightning flashed through the dark sky. In the distance, the sound of a vulture feeding on leftover meat screeched through the night. All this could be heard at once. There was no straining of ears to make out which beasts prowled the night, for I had full knowledge. I knew without seeking. Everything appealed to me. Then slowly, as the sun rose in the eastern sky, everything melted away. It was all gone. And then I awoke.
