I go about my day in a normal fashion, taking a relaxing walk through my local forest trail like I usually did. I saw beautiful, shining rivers and listened to the soft spashing of the running water. I crossed the river and found myself on a uphill path. As I walked through miles of silent forest, listening to birds chirping, I heard a piercing sound. The sound struck my ears suddenly, and I immediately felt my pulse pick up. I heard it again, and turned frantically to locate the sound. I could hear it coming from a direction off the path. Thoughts of my past experiences flood my mind, and I can feel myself trembling in fear. A third time I hear it, and I bolt off in the direction it came from. I run as fast as I can, my heart beating erratically. When I finally get to the source of the noise, panting heavily, what I observed was not what I thought. I had reached the edge of a large backyard, with children screeching and playing. I quickly realize that of course it was just children playing. Of course they weren't being beaten or abused, like I had been.
