I used to like punk rock but you made me like love songs

Punk rock is my style

Fast and angry and scared of nothing

Drowning out its problems

With a drumbeat and a screaming guitar

I hear no demons

And I feel no fear

Let the man’s voice carve

A path through my darkness

Let the headphones suck me in

And make me disappear

Let the tempo help the world speed up

And these awful moments to pass

But then there’s you

Two shining eyes and a warm heart

You wandered into my life and now

I’ll take the love songs

Let the heartbroken voice

Heal my own

Let its quietness calm
The voices in my head

Let me savor every moment

Not just wait for the seconds to tick past

Let me hear the words and

Think of you

And then I don’t need punk rock

Because the only thing that lifts me out of the dark

Is your gentle voice

Not an angry one pounding through

The speakers on my phone

So let the love songs ring forth

Let the love poems sprout

And the cheesy lines rule the world

For the only anger I feel now

Is when I can’t be with you
