There's an empty space where my certainty used to dwell,

sitting here watching as our nation descends into Hell.

Now everyone is a stranger, staring back in my face.

Watching from a distance our national disgrace.

Everything I used to be sure of now laughs at me,

my mind and universe are both spinning crazily.

Off my axis, my tether to certainty shattered,

No longer can count on the things that always mattered.

A ship unmasted before the mighty red tide,

at the mercy of the storm, hanging on for the ride.

No time to even breathe before the next wave,

all reduced to rubble, soon, nothing left to save.
