Scars are not just a sign of a deep penetrating wound, they are also a sign of survival.

Every scar has a story. Every story should be met with an understanding of strength. For what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.

A scar, no matter the size, is always there.

It can be hidden, it can be reduced,

But it's ever present, and it's not fair.

Scars tell a story, others can deduce.

Privacy raped, our dignity stolen,

Demanding justice, for innocence lost.

A scar can make us, no longer golden,

A beauty pilfered at to high a cost.

Our scars can run deep, our scars can still hide,

Please handle with care, the scarred still survive.

We flinch when we try; continue with pride,

It's truly a wonder we're still alive.

Tears that we've cried put true strength in our breath.

Scars are a sign, we've survived worse than death.
