On The Trail

The hunt is on!

All eyes scanning round, forward, both sides. We need to go carefully until the target is in sight and then, only then, can we spring in to action.

Stealth is the key here. Trying to stay as unnoticed as possible. Not easy when there is a large group, but care is essential for success.

The twigs and branches snap and crackle underfoot, but if we keep the pace slow, that crackling will blend in with the other noises of the forest.

Look! Just ahead. Is that one?

Extra care now, at least until we are sure....yes, it is our prey! The most crucial part of the hunt now....get the prey surrounded, leave them nowhere to turn and then they will be ours for the taking.

Spread out, as swiftly and as silently as possible; once we’re all in position, let out a howl.

Let the dogs go, they are only doing what they are told to do. And the horses as well. They are all so scared they will turn tail and run.

It’s the humans we want. Yes, the ones that have hunted our families, our kin. They don’t even do it for food but for fun. Show them no sympathy, give them no slack. Make them pay in blood.

We, at least, will be feasting tonight, but remember the prize. One head with riding hat, placed at the entrance of the forest. Maybe then they will learn that this place is the home of the animals and not of man. And maybe then, they’ll stay away.
