She looks beautiful tonight

Just as she always does

Glowing brilliantly among the stars

Like a pale goddess.

Many have worshipped her in their pagan rituals

Based divine personalities on her

Countless gods and goddesses have been attributed to her likeness

For she filled them with wonder.

Each night, I look upon her

Whether she be waxing or waning, she captivates me still

And even if she is behind a veil of clouds

I feel her presence and her power.

To control the ocean itself

Such a thing seems so fantastical

Like an excerpt from the ancient tales of heroes and prophets

Yet there she is, doing it each night.

Her beauty is awe-inspiring

Her power is immeasurable

Without her the night sky would never be as captivating

And the oceans would stagnate.

I asked nothing of her

No one did

But she still became this incredible

And so, I write this ode to her

To the moon, Queen of the Night and the Oceans.
