Dark Flowers
My eyes searched for help
as I fell down the hole.
The deep dark hole.
I ran for cover
once I hit the dark ground.
Within an instant, flashing light.
I could see the exit.
It looked so far;
flashing light.
I ran toward the light;
It came from different directions.
My head spun, I spun.
I hit the ground and stared upwards.
This was it. This was the bottom.
Nothing felt right, yet nothing felt wrong.
I started to sink; faster and faster
until I could no longer breathe.
I could no longer see the flashing light.
Dark and darkness, coldly hot.
My heart beat loudly until there was silence.
My throat burned, my arms stung.
The flashing light got brighter,
and the stinging turned to pressure.
Pulling, tugging, I opened my eyes.
The light was bright, stable.
I could breathe.
