The stars twinkled brightly,

Clustered wide and tightly,

Shimmmering for all to see.

Never did the night come,

When she would not be seen,

Staring up at the dazzling scene.

What she saw was much more,

Then lights in the inky sky,

She saw life past our own way up high.

What secrets she could tell us,

Of mysteries turned to dust,

Of times of peace and harmony we had all but lost.

For she stopped staring at the day,

And turned her face away,

Up she stares ever more at the Milky Way.

The woman turned at dawns first light,

And headed home to wait for night,

To stare once more at stars so bright.
